KOK THONG heads the firm’s Dispute Resolution Practice Group. Kok Thong’s main area of practice is in civil and commercial litigation with an emphasis on banking and finance litigation (for both Conventional and Islamic Facilities) and he possessed vast experience in handling civil cases involving a variety of legal disputes with focus on debt recovery, bankruptcy, corporate insolvency, enforcement of securities and execution proceedings. He acted as Counsel for financial institutions and companies for debt recovery matters and has appeared at all levels of the courts in Malaysia.

He is also regularly engaged to assist and advises both local and foreign financial institutions on matters relating to his practice areas and has built a reputation for delivering strategic, results-driven legal solutions that consistently lead to favourable outcomes for financial institutions. He also oversees the firm’s Intellectual Property portfolio and assists local and international Clients with registrations of their intellectual property rights.

Kok Thong has also been engaged regularly and often invited to give talks and conduct legal trainings for officers of one of the largest banking group in Malaysia. He has also on numerous occasions been invited to sit as a Moot Court Judge and he has also recently been invited to sit as an Adjudicator in the prestigious Tun Zaki Moot Competition.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from the Multimedia University and a Master of Laws from University of Malaya. His academic background with a focus in commercial and banking laws allows him to offer practical and strategic approaches in dispute resolution with practical outcomes for Clients.

He leads a team of talented, dedicated lawyers in the firm’s Dispute Resolution Practice Group, all of whom share his ethos and approach to dispute resolution.
